Job Title

Biokineticist Intern

 

Location

Western Cape, Cape Town, Newlands

 

Employment Type

12 months, with an option for 24 months

 

Role Summary

As a SSISA intern, you will receive exposure to all the modalities of Biokinetics offered within one centre. SSISA has developed an exceptional internship structure which allows interns to apply themselves to any of the services offered within the Biokinetics scope of practice.

The divisions in which Sports Science Interns can gain experience include:

  • General Wellness
  • Weight loss
  • Special Populations
  • Chronic Disease
  • Orthopaedic and Neurological conditions
  • Old Mutual Corporate Gym (Pinelands)
  • Sports Performance Centre
  • Community Outreach

 

Requirements

 BA or BSc Honours in Biokinetics 

 

Abilities, Skills & Attributes

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to receive positive feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Organisational and time management skills.

Strategic & Accrediting Education Lead

Role Summary

The primary function is to provide leadership to the Education Hub and steer its strategic imperatives to provide effective management, sustainable expansion and financial growth 

 

Key Performance Areas

1. Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Inform the strategic direction to guide and direct the activities of the Education Hub.
  • Develop the Education Hub into a thriving business unit that supports and achieves objectives of the organisation’s strategic plan.
  • Oversight of content for the various qualifications and short courses.
  • Expand the geographical reach of the Education Hub.
  • Broaden the offering of qualifications, part qualifications, short courses and micro credentials for online and hybrid learning.
  • Create a strategy to attract a greater number of students whilst maintaining high quality.
  • Ensure the integration of technology and innovation into teaching and learning (e.g. blended learning, gamification and microlearning).
  • Identify and develop partnerships with accredited institutions with a view to co-license qualifications and courses.

 

2. Financial Management and Budgeting

  • Explore opportunities to increase revenue and reduce costs through process improvements.
  • Manage spends within the allocated budget parameters whilst ensuring value for money.
  • Control company resources to improve profitability.
  • Create a 5-year forecast and ensure its achievement
       

3. Governance Management

  • Lead and support all governance activities for the Education Hub.
  • Keep abreast of policies and procedures pertaining to quality assuring and accrediting bodies, including, but not limited, to SETAs, QCTO, CHE, and SACE.
  • Retain certification rights from the accrediting bodies.
  • Ensure adherence to company policy, procedures, legislation, and ethical consideration.
  • Assess the impact and identify necessary changes in work practices to ensure compliance.

4. Development of the Education Hub Marketing Strategy

  • Engage in market research and analysis to understand the needs of the education industry and the market trends.
  • Drive demand and contribute to the company's revenue and growth.

5. Development and Maintenance of Partnerships

  • Source financial partnerships to sustain the objectives of the Education Hub.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant government departments, sporting federations and academies, fitness centers and clubs.

 

6. Project Management

  • Establish and lead projects.
  • Identify project team members.
  • Ensure budgets are adhered to.
  • Monitor and evaluate project deliverables.

 

7. Contribute to Human Capital Activities

  • Support and promote the social responsibility objectives of the business.
  • Encourage activities that will promote a positive corporate culture.
  • Mentor staff to ensure consistent skills and career development.
  • Ensure all staff are contracted and appraised in line with the Performance Management policy.
  • Continuously evaluate learning interventions to identify gaps in the training provided.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Master’s degree in education or related.
  • 8 years’ education experience at a tertiary level which should include online or hybrid modes of delivery
  • 7 years management experience with 2 years in top management.

 Preferred

  • Exposure to the sports, fitness or health
