1. Minimum Qualification & Experience:
Qualifications & Certifications
- Relevant fitness qualification (e.g., ETA, HFPA, or equivalent NQF-aligned fitness certification).
- Specialised certification(s) for the formats taught (e.g., HIIT, Strength, Indoor Cycling, Yoga, Pilates, Step, Dance Fitness, Aqua, etc.).
- Valid CPR and First Aid Level 1 certification.
- Professional Indemnity of at least 2million.
- Registration with a recognised professional body, where applicable (e.g., REPSSA).
Experience
- 1 - 2 years of practical experience instructing group exercise classes in a gym or studio environment.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct multiple formats OR strong expertise in at least one specialised modality.
- Proven record of delivering safe, effective, and engaging sessions.
- Ability to maintain attendance records, incident reporting, and class feedback where required.

3. Skills & Competencies
- Strong exercise technique knowledge, class programming ability, and understanding of progressions/regressions.
- Excellent verbal communication, energy, and stage presence.
- Ability to manage class flow, tempo, and timing effectively.
- Strong member engagement skills – able to motivate diverse groups with varying fitness levels.
- Ability to adapt sessions for injury considerations and contraindications.
- High level of professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.

HPC: Technical Manager

Role Summary
The HPC Technical Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining best practices, protocols and SOPs for the HPC unit, as well as ensuring that ongoing HPC projects are executed in a timely manner. The HPC Technical Manager will also be responsible for ensuring communication with various HPC stakeholders to ensure that all HPC deliverables are met.
Qualification & Experience
Essential
• Honours degree in Biokinetics.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Biokineticist.
•5 years of experience in delivering strength and conditioning in a high-performance environment.
• Experience in managing projects related to teams and individuals.
• Demonstrated experience in creating and updating protocols and standard operating procedures.
Preferred
• 3 years previous managerial experience.
Key Performance Areas
1. Technical leadership
• Guiding the team through new and pre-established SOP protocols.
• Develop new protocols in conjunction with HPC Operations Manager and leadership team.
2.Project management
• Liaise with stakeholders, business development and Management to identify new and existing
projects that require project management.
• Create project management plans and ensure that project timelines are executed in a timely and
structured manner. This would involve informing internal staff of requirements and deadlines as
well as effective communication interdepartmentally.
• Schedule and monitor projects.
3. Team development
• Identify future competencies to ensure HPC remains cutting edge and use that to create a rolling
one-year development plan for the team and all individuals within the HPC team.
• Monitor agreed team development and prepare quarterly reports for Management.
• Ensure HPC team is sufficiently provided with opportunities to upskill and develop their skillset
that is in alignment with the HPC vision.
4. Stakeholder communication
• Ensure there is thorough communication between HPC stakeholders, ensuring all HPC
deliverables are met.
• Ensure daily, weekly and monthly protocols are implemented within HPC team, clients and other
departments that interact with HPC, including academic colleagues.
• Attend D-ManComm once a month.
5. Compliance
• Create and implement a compliance plan.
• Ensure all HPC staff members are compliant and capable of executing the assigned projects and tasks set out for them. This would include assisting HPC interns with professional compliance
from a high level.
6. Financial Management
• Obtain pricing and quotations for all HPC technical development activities.
• Motivate for budget and ensure implementation within agreed parties.
• Create a monthly plan that ensures HPC technical excellence is directly linked to the financial
success of existing and new services.
• Contribute and direct delivery services to clients as per the agreed weekly.
7. Data Products
• Oversee design and development of data driven products that will provide ongoing value for
current and future clients.
8.Equipment maintenance
• Order, maintain and ensure equipment and materials are kept at a high standard at all times
within the constraints of the HPC budget.
• Establish a system that ensures the safekeeping and storage of equipment.
