The Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) Education Hub aims to bridge the skills gap in wellness, fitness and sports through the delivery of quality education and training.

Knowledge is ever changing and parents, students, teachers, coaches, administrators, volunteers and anyone involved in sport or wellness stands to benefit greatly from the courses and workshops we offer.

We deliver credit and non-credit bearing courses in fitness, sport, life skills, wellness, physical education, sport coaching and administration.

We are an accredited service provider for the Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sports Education Sector Education Training Authority (Cathsseta) and the Education, Training and Development Sector Training Authority (ETDPSETA). The SSISA Education Hub, is also a licensed training provider for Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA).

Online Short Courses

Register for one of the online short courses run by the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA). The courses are focused on teaching you practical skills that you can apply in your career and personal life. To ensure that you are able to maintain a work-life balance while completing the course, the content is available as online self-paced learning. This means that you can start the course at any time and work at your own pace. All the courses carry Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPD) points.

Are you thinking of a career in the sport or fitness industry? The SSISA Education Hub is launching its first two qualifications in January 2019. The CATHSSETA accredited National Certificate in Fitness (137 credits), as well as a 2-year National Diploma in Fitness (247 credits), will give you the knowledge and skills you need to excel in your field. All the content was written by specialists in their respective fields. They include Exercise Science and Sports Medicine Professors, Doctors, Biokineticists, Dieticians and Psychologists all of whom currently work in fitness, wellness and sports performance. The area of specialisation for the Diploma is Sports Conditioning and the topics include performance assessments, resistance and endurance conditioning and sports programme design. In addition you will upskilled in presentation skills, personal development and lifestyle changes. These qualifications will primarily be aimed at school leavers wanting to practice as personal fitness trainers or sport conditioning coaches and other related occupations. Conference And Summits

The SSISA hosts a National Fitness Convention which has been running for over 10 years and is usually held on a biennial basis.
