The Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA), a well-known operation in the field of wellness and fitness, has a vacancy for a Social Media Portfolio Co-ordinator at its base in Newlands, Cape Town.

 

We hope to find a junior to mid-level multi-skilled social media enthusiast who has the ability to engage with words and images and has a proven interest in sports or fitness.

 

The ideal candidate will use these abilities to assist our Marketing team by:

  • primarily acting as the conduit between Marketing and our Wellness and Sports Performance divisions, as a specific focus
  • fulfilling the role of Social Media Portfolio Co-ordinator for SSISA as a whole

 

Essential:

  • A practical knowledge of sport as well as a passion for it
  • A strong interest in digital/social media
  • A good grounding in spelling and grammar
  • Understanding the SSISA tone and target market for each division

 

Requirements:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or diploma (communications, digital media, social media, digital/online marketing) 
  • Minimum of two years’ working experience within social media management/maintenance on behalf of clients

Key Responsibilities:

 

Social media community management & Content Scheduling:

  • Schedule social media posts through Social Bakers and/or Facebook schedules
  • Assisting Content Writer with content calendar planning specifically for the Wellness & Performance divisions
  • Schedule content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn according to content plan
  • Assist Content Writer and Graphic Designer with social media content calendars
  • Gather live and ad hoc footage for the various divisions to post on Instagram Stories and Facebook Live
  • Assist in growing the YouTube channel for performance-based snippets

 

Align with Digital and Social Communication Strategy:

  • Provide input and ideas around engagement promotions that bring in top results
  • Assist Marketing Manager with digital advertising support where needed and lead monitoring
  • Attend Wellness and Performance division team meetings and feed back to Marketing team on specific marketing-related requirements 

 

Social media maintenance:

  • Monitor user engagement, following strict social media escalation protocols
  • Compile user-friendly monthly social reports through Social Bakers
  • Liaise with Marketing Manager on a daily basis

 

Events & PR:

  • Attend all SSISA events in order to provide live coverage on social media channels
  • Promote event hashtags and compile post-event reports for sponsors

VOLUNTARY INTERNSHIP (WORK-INTEGRATED LEARNING) POSITION

 

The Conference & Events Department of the Sports Science Institute of South Africa will be contracting an Events Management student for six months to assist in the department on various Conference Centre and Institute-related events.  This position becomes available from 01 July 2018.

 

This is a 25-hour per week position and is based in Newlands, Cape Town at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa.

 

Essential attributes include:

  • good verbal and written communication skills in English and, preferably, a second South African language
  • Word, Excel and PowerPoint at intermediate level
  • very strong administrative skills
  • highly organised and task-driven

Job Responsibilities:

  • assist the Conference Centre team in the daily running of the conference facilities
  • assist in administrative, operational and logistical duties associated with the SSISA Conference Centre facilities. These include:
    • liaising with internal and external clients regarding booking requirements
    • providing technical and operational assistance for the facility
    • providing good customer relations to clients and delegates
    • liaising with caterers as required
    • providing quotes to clients as required
    • assisting conference centre staff where necessary
    • issuing of stock to internal departments
    • general correspondence
    • assisting with administration for workshops and events
  • assist in administrative functions associated with SSISA events
  • assist the Events Committee where needed in ensuring that the planning, implementation, promotion, processing, administration and evaluation of SSISA is met and run successfully
  • assisting with delegate payments
  • database management and database capture of all attending delegates
  • liaising with delegates regarding accommodation, travel and other logistical requirements as required

We are looking for a Graphic Designer to help design and build a number of online courses and qualifications in the sport and wellness field.  You will be working with an Instructional Designer to create online learning materials and education products that are in line with the SSISA vision and strategy.  This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a Graphic Designer to showcase their talent. 

This position is offered as a full-day contract position for a period of one year.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in creating e-content and working with instructional technology

Graphic design degree/diploma

Mastery of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign

You will be part of a small and dynamic team created to roll out education products that are in line with the SSISA vision and strategy. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for an Instructional Designer to showcase their talent. 

 

This position is offered as a full-day contract position for a period of one year.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in instructional design, content production and writing
  • A university degree in English, Linguistics, Creative Writing, Media Studies or similar

Monday to Friday:  5-hour shifts set between 05h30 and 20h30

Every fourth Saturday and Sunday 07h00 to 13h00

Rate:  R38 per hour

Please note that reliable transport is an essential requirement to ensure that you are able to present yourself timeously for the morning shift.

A bubbly personality, good people skills and being able to work shifts are essential. Previous experience or knowledge of the fitness industry is an advantage.   To start as soon as possible.

The Sports Science Institute in Newlands is seeking a Frontline Receptionist to deal with our customers.    This position involves ad hoc shift work and it is essential that the successful candidate has a driver’s licence and their own reliable transport and can commit to being available to work certain 4 or 6-hour shifts between 05h15 to 21h00 throughout the week, on a rotational basis.

Rate: R38 per hour

This particular position will require the person to be available for the following shifts:

Friday 17h30 to 21h00

Saturday 13h00 to 19h00

Sunday 16h00 to 19h00

Possible other shifts on an ad hoc basis:

Sunday 08h00 to 12h30

Morning shifts 05h15 to 09h00

Evening shifts 17h00 to 21h00

Important attributes are: 

  • A cheerful personality with excellent people skills 
  • The ability to work fast and correctly whilst dealing with multiple tasks
  • A good level of computer literacy in Excel and Word
  • Previous experience in the fitness industry would be an added advantage
