The Sports Science Institute at the Gym at Old Mutual in Pinelands has a vacancy for a Floor Supervisor to work 25 hours per week according to a shift roster and perform the following duties:

  • Be visible on the training floor, offer assistance to members who are training, check their technique and help them to understand their exercise programmes as prescribed by the Exercise Consultant.
  • Ensure that safety rules are strictly applied on the floor and in the pool area.
  • Ensure that the exercise floor is kept neat and orderly throughout the day.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have achieved a degree or diploma in Exercise/Sports Science Management or similar.
  • Have excellent people skills
  • Have reliable transport
  • Meet the requirements of our employment equity goals
  • Be able to start as soon as possible.

Previous experience or knowledge of the fitness industry will be an advantage.

Monday to Friday 05h30 to 20h30

Saturday 07h00 to 13h00

Sunday 08h00 to 13h00

The Sports Science Institute of South Africa, based in Newlands in Cape Town, has a vacancy for a Debtors Administrator to be placed as soon as possible in the Orthopaedic & Neurological Rehabilitation Division of the Biokinetics Practice.

Although this is the chief function of the position, the candidate will also be required to act as a back-up to the Practice Receptionist.

This is a full-time position from 08h00 to 17h00 Monday to Friday.


  • Previous experience in reception/administrative duties and office support within a medical practice
  • Experience in billing of medical aid clients and ICD codes
  • A proven track record in debt collection, both telephonically and face-to-face
  • Strong administrative and financial skills
  • Computer literate with fast and accurate typing skills
  • Able to multitask under pressure with attention to detail
  • Good telephone etiquette
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Presentable

Key responsibilities:

  • The core function of this position is to reduce the number and value of arrear accounts whilst maintaining client service standards and retaining existing clients.  A professional but understanding manner will be required when dealing with these clients. 
  • Call arrear clients to obtain payment arrangements by effective negotiation.
  • Investigate and resolve client queries
  • Accurately capture all information
  • Communicate with relevant parties on information and progress
  • Adhere to all applicable legislation and remain informed of relevant information at all times
  • Comply with processes, policy and procedures
