Our mission-was to undertake world class research, to advance and co-ordinate the teaching and research activities in sports medicine and sports science and to apply and disseminate knowledge to improve the health and sporting performance of all South Africans. Twenty years on we are proud to continue with this worthy mission and to announce the 10th SSISA Wellness and Fitness Convention to be hosted at Emperor’s Palace, Johannesburg, South Africa. The 2016 convention will be a highly focused two-day event aimed at linking world-class minds in the health, fitness and sporting front. We hope to attract health professionals, fitness enthusiasts as well as the sporting fraternity at large. The event will also include a pre-convention focusing on schools sports and talent identification. Invited speakers, both local and international, will share their ideas and experiences with tracks themes covering health, wellness, performance, technology and business acumen. The conference will provide delegates with an excellent opportunity to learn, engage and network with industry peers. Therefore, this module will present guidelines on how to train the ATP system, ATP-PC system as well as the Lactic Acid System without compromising strength and power.
