Programmes: Healthy Weight
Healthy Weight Beginner
The Healthy Weight Program offers a holistic and healthy approach to weight control. Utilising our experienced staff core, it offers participants a comprehensive 8-week programme to assist them on the path to a healthier lifestyle. The success of the programme lies in its holistic approach to wellness, encouraging positive and sustainable lifestyle changes.
Course Structure
The beginners course covers dietary, exercise and a small psychological component. Prior to joining the programme the participants complete a comprehensive set of questionnaires that offer information on lifestyle habits. The eating habits questionnaire is analysed by one of the registered dieticians on the programme, and an individualised eating programmes is worked out for each participant. Participants are encouraged to make small, sustainable dietary changes as part of their move towards a healthier lifestyle.
The exercise sessions are aimed at individuals who are sedentary and new to the exercise scene. Prior to exercising each person undergoes an individualised fitness assessment. Based on these results, participants are guided through the next 8 weeks of exercise so they become familiar with the correct technique and exercise prescription. Limitations of the individual are considered when exercise is prescribed.
Another important aspect to the programme is the workshop with the psychologist. This helps participant's deal with compliance and stressors that make the healthy changes difficult.
On completion of the 8-week course, participants are advised and encouraged to continue with the changes that they have made.
The multi disciplinary team working on the programme includes biokineticists, exercise physiologists, dieticians and psychologists.

Healthy Weight Intermediate
Once participants have enjoyed the first 8 weeks of Healthy Weight Beginners, they can embark on the Healthy Weight Intermediate program. This program allows members to continue with the changes that they have made in the Beginners course, in a familiar environment. Although there is still structure and motivation provided, the members now become more independent as they have greater flexibility and choices of exercise sessions and options.
Course Structure
The Intermediate program is an 8 week program that continues the holistic approach to diet and exercise. The exercise sessions take place twice a week at various times, and the members are now encouraged to make up two other classes/sessions of their choice. Members now are able to exercise on their own if they choose or take part in classes such as aerobics/yoga/aqua and many others the Institute offers. The groups are guided through their exercise sessions by a qualified biokineticists who stays with the group for the whole 8 weeks.
Members still see the dietician once a week, as they continue on their healthy eating plan. In addition to this, every week the dietician addresses practical issues and gives dietary tools, such as what to eat at social events, quick and easy breakfasts and other healthy eating tips.
Times & Classes
Two classes a week are compulsory, and they are spaced out during the course of the week to allow members to take part in other sessions of their choice. The time slots are similar to those that the Beginners took part in, so there is less change as they move into the Intermediate program! Various days and time slots are available, from early morning to evening, and are as follows:
| Monday & Thursday |
06:30 - 07:30 |
| Monday & Thursday |
09:00 - 10:00 |
| Monday & Thursday |
17:30 - 18:30 |
| Monday & Thursday |
18:30 - 19:30 |
During the course of the program there are fun group events that members can take part in to keep them on track and enjoying their healthy lifestyle!
Joining
Once you have decided this is the program for you, there are different package options available that out sales team would be more than happy to discuss with you. Before beginning the programme everyone has an individual consultation to set new goals and regain perspective as they move from Beginners to Intermediate.
