Specialist orthopaedic consultants:

Life Healthcare Sports Science Orthopaedic Clinic

Cape Town's sporting fraternity has entered a new era in sports injury treatment. Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital and the SSISA have pooled their expertise in developing the first of its kind, orthopaedic day surgical centre. The Life Sports Science Orthopaedic Centre is situated adjacent to the SSISA in the converted historic Mariendahl Terrace cottages. This highly specialised facility opened its doors in March 2009.

Dedicated to the development of sport since its inception in 1994, the SSISA already boasts top quality injury assessment, rehabilitation, medical training and conference facilities. The partnership with Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital will complement SSISA's existing infrastructure and is aimed at fast-tracking the injury recovery process.

The future also looks bright for sportsmen from disadvantaged communities. Four operations per month, are dedicated to smaller sporting codes, which do not have sufficient funding for their players.

The Western Province Rugby Football Union

The Western Province Rugby Football Union (WP Rugby) enjoys a formal relationship with the SSISA through the establishment of a Sports Medicine Centre and specialist Radiology/Orthopaedic Centre at the SSISA complex. The Sports Medicine Centre is within walking distance of the Newlands rugby stadium and serves as the specialist hub for the management of Western Province contracted players, with the ability to facilitate fast, efficient and effective diagnosis of medical and injury diagnosis.
