Although you may train alongside some of South Africa’s finest athletes in the Wellness & Fitness Centre, you don’t have to be one of them to benefit from our scientifically specialized services and superb facilities. The Wellness & Fitness Centre is committed to assisting their members reach their health and fitness goals. Our members include individuals who value the role that exercise plays in assisting them in their daily life, to sporting enthusiasts who are intent on being the best in their discipline.
The Wellness & Fitness Centre offers a selection of health and fitness options, a spacious, uncluttered and uncrowded environment, fully-equipped with modern fitness equipment, and access to the expertise and the attention of a team of highly-qualified health professionals. The Centre offers and environment that is professional, friendly and conducive to safe and effective exercise training.
A scientific beginning Your introduction to the Wellness & Fitness Centre is a comprehensive and confidential screening and assessment programme. This assessment accurately evaluates your current health and fitness status. It’s a starting point from which to begin building on. Following this, and in close consultation with you, an exercise specialist will assist you in designing a fitness programme that meets your specifications and is motivating and varied. It is carefully designed to help you achieve your goals, safely and effectively. A follow-up assessment is carried out three months later to monitor progress and allow for adaptation of the programme where necessary.
Everything is based on widely – acclaimed scientific research. Biokineticists are on hand to ensure that you make the most of their knowledge by assisting you, every step of the way, and with careful attention to your individual requirements.
Variety is the spice of life Even the most ardent fitness enthusiast or sports person can get bored with their training routine. This is often why fitness programmes fail. The Wellness & Fitness Centre offers a wide variety of group exercise options for members who find inspiration in training with others and under instruction. They include:
- Aqua Classes for those who enjoy the benefits and pleasure of water aerobics.
- Hydrocise is a group session in the pool that is suitable for members with individual needs.
- Keep Fit is a cardiovascular and strength training class designed to increase fitness levels.
- Body Sculpt is an all over body workout concentrating on calisthenics and stretching exercises.
- Track Class is a fun, demanding workout on the track. This is an ideal session for the fitter member.
- Step Classes are given on the Blue Floor and cater for an intermediate level of fitness.
Special Services To Help You Get Ahead
We understand that everyone has different fitness needs. Some require more specialized attention and supervision than others, especially if they have been inactive. Some want to focus on a specific objective and need assistance along the way. The Wellness & Fitness Centre offers a range of special services to cater for these needs.
Personal Fitness Training We have a team of qualified Biokineticists available to train you on a “one-on-one” basis. This is an excellent way of ensuring that you get the most out of your training programme to achieve your fitness goals. Enquiries can be made directly through a membership consultant or at reception.
Once-Off Assessment For individuals not wanting to join the Fitness Centre, but wishing to make use of our expertise and scientific testing procedures. Involves a full fitness evaluation with a set of results and an individually designed exercise regime.
Health Nutz Health Nutz provides an exercise opportunity for children seeking alternative forms of physical activity as well as general health education. This programme helps lay the foundations of good lifestyle habits with a view to educating the younger population so as to promote a healthy childhood and to decrease the risk of lifestyle diseases in their adult years. Exercise is introduced in a fun, non-competitive manner to encourage children to increase their physical activity levels. Physical activity improves and enhances motor skill development and assists the children in identifying activities they enjoy.
Guest Sessions Guests are welcome to train on a once off basis. Guest passes can be purchased at reception. All guests will be required to fill in an indemnity form prior to training.
One Day Memberships The perfect option for those who prefer to join on a trial basis before committing to a full membership, for corporate executives who only visit Cape Town periodically or for visitors from other regions or countries.
The temporary membership is in the form of a booklet consisting of 10 one-day passes, which can be used at any time, and can be purchased from a membership consultant.
